Guys, anybody has a tomcat? I have found a cat in our house, it is probably a tomcat, when I feel him, there are balls, but they seem quite small, like one little ball. I don`t know what to think about it. If a tomcat is castrated, is there anything left, or there is nothing under the tail?
I want to have kittens, it`s high time for our female cat. If this tomcat is OK, he is veritable godsend. So far he has been very shy, tries to avoid her.... He is a mystery to me. Help!
I can take photos.

I can't really help...sorry...I don't know much about cats, but I'm wondering if perhaps he's just a young male who hasn't fully developed yet?? Someone in internet land should know...

Bo, When your female comes in heat, you will know. Until then, if the stranger is a male your female won't mate and he probably won't try. It's pretty easy to find the sex of cats when they are newborns, after they get a little bigger it can be very hard. If you must know take him (it) to a vet and they will be able to tell you. They will also be able to tell if he was fixed.

Bo, When your female comes in heat, you will know. I know it because she has been with us for 15 years. We didn`t breed her for various reasons, but now I would like to do it. This tomcat is probably fixed, as you say. It is too self-satisfied, snug and gentle, and runs away when she hisses at him. But my kids have already taken to him. Funny but she stopped crying when the stranger entered her territory. I will do it if no neighbour claims the cat.

Bo, I didn't know your female was 15 years old! thats old for a cat! I hate to tell you this but I would warn against her having kittens as this is too old (IMHO) and she may not live through a pregnancy and birth. Even nursing a litter of kittens can be very draining on her health. Check with your vet....I could be wrong.

I wanted to extend their genetic heritage onto next generations. I thought it was still possible because she was so lively. But now it is too late.... I took her to the vet today, she has developed feline asthma, is very weak, refuses to eat. She will be 16 in summer.

The cat has adapted well as we adopted the cat. Congratulations on the newest family addition! We are contemplating getting a dog. The children are begging for one daily, I am on the fence a bit and my husband is not terribly interested. My heart still aches over the loss of our previous dog (it has been nearly three years), but I remember how wonderful it was to have a dog when I was growing up. Currently we have 2 fish, 3 beetles, and about 6 mealworms.

Bo, I think you are making your cat nervous...putting his/her picture among all those food dishes! He isn`t nervous. He is very sociable, always comes to kitchen when we eat, even when their bowl is full. My wife is nervous, though, she admonishes me for bringing in an alien cat without all those checks etc. Yes, I was irresponsible but I love animals.

Bonobo, since your wife is pregnant you do need to be careful about the possibility of toxoplasmosis. More information: www.cdc.gov/healthypets/pregnant.htm

Being on the safe side, though, it is me who always changes cats` litter (which transmits the disease).

The first meeting was wary. Can you see anything? Do you remember my quest for the cat`s sex identity in March? Well, everything is OK now. It is one giant tomcat with balls like ostrich eggs. I will have to look for cat females next year. I will put up advertisements that we have a fully able tomcat to share. The cat is extremely well-mannered and funny too, because he behaves like a dog sometimes. My wife is very fond of it. We never regreted we had adopted it. Guess what, we got a third cat. This time it is a little orange kitten, I found it next to our house and took home, like the previous one. Judging from my experience, it is also a tomcat. I presume that our house caretaker brings those cats to the city from the village where he lives and hopes some merciful soul will take care of them. He isn`t mistaken.
