Stock markets are falling and people are losing money. I have lost too and it seems it is not going to end so soon....
But I am quite relaxed. I don`t need to withdraw and spend the money I put in the investment fund, and as it took place a few years ago, I am still in the black. I have no debts or loans to repay, either.
I hope you guys have a similar situation. Cheer up, the indexes will go up again. Patience!

Today was better, and it will again gain, unless the black devil gets in office.
The talk today is, if he does not get in, there will be race riots in the streets.
This could be a way of putting fear into the white to vote for him.

Why must you continue to do so? Is it really necessary to perpetuate this kind of nasty name calling? Do you have some personal issues with Barack Obama being of mixed race?

Like you said, it was what the press called him. He is mixed, but calls himself black, no word of his white part, ever. This election should not be a white black thing, but he is making it one. Treats of civil riots in the street, and the like. He is just no good, and we, the Americans, need be careful he does not get in.

EXACTLY. OBAMA IS NOT BLACK. HE IS 50% WHITE AND 50% BLACK. THAT'S ABOUT AS AMERICAN AS ONE CAN GET.
ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO WHAT MAC/LIPSTICK ARE SAYING THEY WILL DO? USA AND THE WORLD CAN'T AFFORD 4 MORE YEARS OF EVEN WORSE POLICIES THEN SHRUBCO. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THERE COULD BE SOMEONE LESS INTELLIGENT THEN GW? PALIN HAS NO CLUE AND MAC SEEMS TO BE THE WORST LIER EVER. GEEZ

Wouldn't it be nice if the U.S. politicians could put as much energy into improving our country as they do slinging mud at each other and discussing race, age, and gender differences?

Obama was trained, schooled, and raised as a Muslin, the same group that wants to kill all the Americans. The other guy is a true American who served the U.S. even more than most. He also has been in congress a lot longer. And with age comes wisdom, in his case, any way.

John McCain's VP pick is the Governor of Alaska , a unknown hockey mom named Sarah Palin that no one ever heard of. The only other job she had in politics was the mayor of a small town known as Wasilla , Alaska , and now she has the oppor tunity to be on a ticket opposite of Barack Obama, the first black man she's ever seen." –Bill Maher
"This isn't a presidential ticket, this is a sitcom. The maverick and the MILF." –Bill Maher
"Are you kidding me, the mayor of Wasilla , Alaska ? Yeah, that's who you want in the White House during a time of crisis. When she got a phone call at 3 in the morning, it was because a moose had gotten in the garbage can." –Bill Maher
"I think this is pertinent because McCain has been running this campaign based on 'we're at war, it's a dangerous world out there. The Democrats don't get that. I John McCain am the only one standing between the blood-thirsty Al Qaedas and you. But if I die, this stewardess can handle it.'" –Bill Maher
"When they were vetting her for this job, like three seconds ago, she said, quote, I'm not making this up, 'What is it exactly that the VP does every day?' Let me field that for you, Sarah. They start wars, they enrich their friends, they subvert the Constitution, and they shoot people in the face. That's what the Vice President does." –Bill Maher
"She's not bad looking. She looks like one of those women in the Van Halen videos who takes off her glasses, shakes out her hair, and then all of a sudden, she's in high heels and a bikini. All of a sudden, I am FOR drilling in Alaska ." --Jimmy Kimmel
"Not only is she young, they're saying she's the prettiest candidate for Vice President since John Edwards." --Jimmy Kimmel
"There was some breaking news out of Dayton , Ohio today, where Republican presidential candidate John McCain introduced the world to his third wife." –Jon Stewart
"Now obviously Sen. John McCain has made an enormous amount over Barack Obama's lack of experience, so it seems curious that the 72-year-old, four-to-five time face cancer guy would choose a running mate whose resume appears to be more suited for a Northern Exposure reunion show." –Jon Stewart
"Alaska Gov. Sarah Pallin is John McCain's choice. Here's what we know about her: her name is Sarah Palin." --Jay Leno
"Actually, it was kind of a smart choice. McCain went with a woman because he didn't want to have to be in a position to have to get CPR from Mitt Romney." –Jay Leno
"Palin and McCain are a good pair. She's pro-life and he's clinging to life." –Jay Leno
"Today President Bush called Gov. Palin and congratulated her. Bush told Palin the job of Vice President is very important because as Vice President, you get to tell the President what to do." –Jay Leno
"The McCain people believe that Americans will disregard her inexperience because they will fall in love with her story. She was a runner up in the 1984 Miss Alaska Pageant., which may sound trite, but you try walking in high-heeled snow shoes." –Bill Maher
"And the trump card, why Americans will fall in love with her, she's got five kids. How can you not vote for someone who has five children, including an infant. Some touching details about the infant: it has Down Syndrome, she had it when she was 43 years old, and it looks a lot like John Edwards." –Bill Maher
"Five kids? Does anyone in that party understand the con cept of pulling out?" –Bill Maher

Hey, guys, this is about stock markets, not politics. Go to Obama thread with this discussion... ;D ;D ;D ;D
Here you can say how the crisis has influenced your life.
Mine has been influenced. I decided to cut down on luxury items. No more caviar and smoked eel. Well, once in 6 months maybe. I also go shopping to cheap chain stores more often. I am discovering how cheap stuff they have. And it is the same quality as in regular stores. I didn`t realise it before. Incredible!

The price of gas is sky high, but both my husband and I have very short commutes to work. Groceries are more and more expensive, but with all 3 daughter out of the house now, our bills seem very low compared to what they once were, even considering the increased prices. The only thing I'm concerned about is a pension plan my husband has through work. We must decide how to allocate the funds, so we are switching them to more secure investments with no risks, but lower returns.

I have been an unlucky investor in this fund since 2002. I am not an expert, if it fails in America, will the Polish branch collapse too? The opinions are mixed on Polish forums. People already rushed to withdraw money from it and transfer to another fund. What do Americans say about a possible collapse of AIG?

Article about PZU's desire to purchase some of AIG's assets:
PZU's dream of acquiring AIG assets in Europe 18th September 2008
AIG will be forced to sell some of its assets and Polish insurance company PZU may take advantage of this opportunity
AIG, the troubled largest insurance company in the world, will be forced to sell some of its assets and this could be a perfect opportunity for the largest Polish insurance company PZU to purchase some of its business as part of its zł.10 billion designated for acquisitions.
"We shall look at every possibility of purchasing companies in our part of Europe," said Andrzej Klesyk, president of the PZU group. AIG owns very good businesses not only in Poland, but also other countries of the region recording double-digit growth.
"From the point of view of PZU, acquisition of AIG assets would be a perfect move. It may not be a substantial player in the region, but it has a solid position. PZU would not only gain access to many markets in one swoop, but it would also take over a bank in Poland, which was mentioned on numerous occasions," said Marcin Mazurek, analyst with Intelace Research.
However, some doubt whether PZU will gain an opportunity to make any acquisitions, as according to rumors, AIG will only dispose of assets in the USA.

here, milk costs about as much as gasoline. crazy Do you suggest milk should be cheaper? We go through about 4 gallons of milk per week at $3.29/gallon (as a comparsion, gas is about $3.69/gallon). I am beginning to wonder if I should just buy a cow...

I don`t want to be in PZU. I gave up their car insurance 3 years ago because I didn`t want to pay 30% more than I do in another company. PZU is a state company and there were problems with its chairmen who embezzled or wasted a lot of money, and ruling political parties were involved in it. They are losing clients all the time. This way or that, I will have to move to another fund. We go through about 4 gallons of milk per week at $3.29/gallon (as a comparsion, gas is about $3.69/gallon). I am beginning to wonder if I should just buy a cow... Don`t complain, the prices of milk are the same in Poland and USA. But Americans earn more, so you are in much better situation..... ;D ;D ;D ;D But, I was a little amazed at the quantity of milk you drink in your family. Do you have it for lunch and dinner like Scandinavians? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You could buy a cow ;D...and you could get about 2 gals. a day from it, but I only recommend it if you have your own pasture and haying fields. Otherwise, what you would have to pay to feed it through the winter would make it not cost effective! ;D ;D ;D Even if you had your own haying fields, the gas you would need to run the haying machines would do you in! Take it from someone who constantly hears of the woes of dairy farmers!

It belongs to Proboards, they offered the site for free at the cost of advertisements. If I was alone here, it could be called my forum. But as it is created by other people, it is no longer mine.
