I am strong!! I haven`t been using booze for 10 days now. I had forgotten to inform you before that at the end of March I had run out of my supplies of excellent homemade wine. I was really desperate. I needed it like air. For some time, I got me booze in stores. Every day! The worst kinds of percentage! I drank everything. But finally I said enough was enough! I didn`t want to be a slave to liqour! So, I gave it up last week. I thought it would be harder, but I am doing well. What is helping me. God, for sure, and the fact that I had gotten really pissed off about the matter, and when I feel like that, I am able to be really brutal, even for myself. So I am. Brutal! I consciously torture myself with the view of canned brews and other divine nectars when I walk along the aisles. I see and not touch them. What a cruel punishment! I am not sure what effect it will have on me, I hope a good one. Probably my poor mind will evolve in an improper direction. I am Mr Bonobo now, but I might turn into Mr Hype. Pray for me because I need a lot of support from my friends. That is why I am telling you all this stuff. AA Bonobo aka- Mr Hype.

You have a free will and you can choose not to drink! It can only have a good effect on your mind! That stuff can be poison to you if you drink too much! I will

You will make it, we here, are all behind you. Turn to us for help, if you should need it. Mike I am doing well. Yesterday I went shopping and next to the check-out were shelves with booze. All kinds of them, including tequilla and whisky. I eyed them with ironic contempt. I didn`t know I can be so stubborn! BTW, Mike, how did you cope with your bottle problem?

I still take a drink once in a well, most of the time, beer, or good wine. I don't miss the hard stuff. It was never a problem with me, but could have been.

Well, I've managed to end up in a horizontal position after drinking Polish wódka a few times when I was young and foolish, but I'm still able to appreciate the stronger stuff these days. (Not bad for a Dutchie, eh?)
But hey, it's Friday evening here, and right now I'm enjoying a can of Heineken. (I hardly ever drink during the week though!) Alcoholic? Who? Me?
;D
Na zdrowie!

Well, I've managed to end up in a horizontal position after drinking Polish wódka a few times when I was young and foolish, Hey, I think we met in Planty Park in Krakow a few years ago! ;D ;D ;D ;D The Dutch drink only a little more than Poles - about 10 litres per head. www.nationmaster.com/graph/foo_alc_con-food-alcohol-consumption-currentDo you drink Heineken because you really like it or because it is easily available or you are a patriot? Here patterns of drinking of new EU countries # The Mediterranean pattern: In the south of CEE (Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia), as well as in other former Yugoslavian countries, which are not part of our focus, there have traditionally been wine and fruit brandy countries, which are strongly influenced by the Mediterranean, especially the Greek and Italian, way of drinking. The Mediterranean style of drinking is characterized by almost daily drinking of alcohol, often drinking wine with meals, and no acceptance of public drunkenness.
# The Central European pattern: Czech Republic and Slovakia can be distinguished specifically as beer-drinking countries, very similar in style to Germany. Although, in recent decades, spirits consumption (often based on fruits) has increased in Slovakia. The beer drinking culture in the Czech Republic is similar to the Mediterranean style in both the frequency of drinking and the lack of acceptance of public drunkenness.
# The Northern European pattern: Traditional vodka drinking cultures constitute the northern part of CEE (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland), and are also found in the Ukraine and Russia, which were used as eastern comparator countries in this report, and in Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden). The production of distilled spirits began after the invention of the alcohol distillation process and, thus, has a substantially shorter tradition than wine drinking in the Mediterranean. The pattern of drinking in spirits (vodka) countries can be characterized by non-daily drinking, irregular binge drinking episodes (e.g. during weekends and at festivities), and the acceptance of drunkenness in public.

Hey, I think we met in Planty Park in Krakow a few years ago! ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm famous! The Dutch drink only a little more than Poles - about 10 litres per head. Could be true, but then again we're beer drinkers, we don't really do wódka here. (I've been taught to drink wódka by a Polish girl, so that explains everything!) ;D Do you drink Heineken because you really like it or because it is easily available or you are a patriot? Hey, I'm a heathen when it comes to beer, I drink everything really! (I don't mind a good glass of Tyskie either!)

21 days without booze!
Shit, I didn`t really know myself - that I can so f....king strong!
Nothing prevents me from getting it - except my will.
I had a waver a week ago. I got low on mood when I went to a market to buy some jeans, the same I had already been wearing for some time. I didn`t find them. I was so disappointed, even furious. It occured to me to buy sth to cheer me up.
But I resisted the idea. Successfully. I won!
I am really proud of myself. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Bo, don't kill me for what I say because I say that because I care.
But if you think the problem actually exists, don't try fight it all alone. Please. You will loose and will start to think of yourself low, which will aggrevate it.
You know where to turn for backing, don't you?

But I am worried about my health. Everybody knows that little amount of wine everyday does you good. If I give up drinking completely, it will have some impact on my well being. How about a little home-made wine when the season comes? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have been drinking since I turned 13 and never felt any need to stop because my home-made wines were just excellent. Now, I said NO and when I say so, I really mean it. I turned for backing to you and to God, and that`s enough. I just can`t lose with such support!!! And it seems I am winning. Nasty addiction, this booze is. Ugh! Every day I watch shopping advertisements with alcohols from Cash and Carry supermarkets and I am intent not to get them, even when on promotion and at discount prices. No is no! How about a little home-made wine when the season comes? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D The problem is that 'little' is a relative term! ;D Hmm, come on, what is this innocent half a bottle in the evening?

Bo, If you find reason to supect that you have a problem, you probably do. To admit a problem with ones self takes a strong man, not a weak one. The good news is that by admitting this you are 50% finished with the process of recovery. I have had struggles with drink and been for the most part victorious. You and I are far from alone in this struggle as this is a common malady. Keep in mind that no matter what happened yesterday, every morning we have a new day to try and get it right. Godspeed Bonobo.

That is good, Bo! But please note that the prayers and the help you feel are not enough if you are addicted. Tufta, you are a man of little faith! Don`t you believe in prayers? ;D The problem is that I am not addicted to alcohol in general. I feel I am addicted to my delicious home-made wine. It is like nectar. ;D ;D ;D ;D And doctor advised me to take it because cherries are good for me. But it seems I am able to fully control it. Now that I have run out of my supplies, I decided not to replace them with any cheap substitutes. And I still stick to my decision. Incredible! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Bo, If you find reason to supect that you have a problem, you probably do. To admit a problem with ones self takes a strong man, not a weak one. If you want, or need, to stop drinking, you must first, want to or need to stop. Slowing down is a great start. Some wine, I think won't hurt you, but not to much.

I am strong!! I haven`t been using booze for 10 days now. Now, over a month. I sometimes dream that I absorb my home-made wine, because yes, I really miss it. But at the same time I abstain from other alcohols. It is not so difficult, even with the two bottles I got as presents from my private students` parents - French Brandy and Greek Metaxa. I am not going to open them. Advantages of abstaining: 1. Financially - in the black. 2. Pride from doing such a stunt. 3. Health benefit - no cheap booze damages your liver. Disadvantages: 1. I sometimes feel upset. 2. At the beginning it seemed my manly prowess diminished. Now, it came back to normal, though. But for how long? 3. I thought that I would lose these 4 kilos/8 pounds of surplus weight that have been haunting me for a long time and I can`t get rid of them. More swimming didn`t help. Neither more thinking. I thought it was alcohol, especially my sweet wine, but now I can see I have lost only 1 kilo/2 pounds. What`s wrong? 4. Health losses. Red wine is said to be really beneficial. I have a lot more reading to do before I can post more... well either that or I will get drunk and post anyway ;D ;D ;D How do you usually get drunk in Poland?
