Thanks a lot. I will certainly use this information. It seems my plans need correction - I wanted to go for 3 days max, but now it looks like a week again. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Botanical garden at Aleje Ujazdowskie. Is it better than Krakow`s? Are there big greenhouses? You mean it is too far from Krakow? ;D ;D ;D ;D How about driving in the city? I read a few articles about roads blocked by the underground building. What is so special in the garden? Some of my kids like and accept, but I don`t! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Is it better than Krakow`s? I donąt know, I have seen Kraków's... However it is along Aleje Ujazdowskie, between Łazienki main entrance and Agrykola, Zamek Ujazdowski. You will be able to drive easily during the summer days, even if a lot of streets are blocked due to many constructions, renovations and so on.

Sorry I can`t spend much time with you now because I have been busy with my room and as we are going away soon, I had to fix many things before departure. Our nearest trip will last about two weeks, so arm yourself with patience.

Hulakula is in the basement, while on the roof there's a garden, kids really L - O - V - E I thought you were talkin about sth else. But it is the garden on the roof of the Library, so we know it. But I think we will visit it again. As for the Botanical Gardens, we wont go there because I checked their site and it is the smallest in Poland and Greenhouses are only open on Sunday.

Bo, there are two botanical gardens in Warsaw. One, really huge is in Powsin. The one in Aleje Ujazdowskie is much smaller indeed. But it is old, some trees are over 300 yo, and it is uniquely wonderful, a real 'secret garden' with many secrets to discover...

Jeanne, The pairing of a llama and chickens is pretty cool. I hope he will keep the fox away. Jeanne, what do they do to keep the fox at bay? Is it trapping, shooting, or as you say llaming? We are having a fox problem here. I have my shotgun handy at all times but who knows. jj, Before they "borrowed" the llama, they just kept their chickens in the barn in a coop-type arrangement, so predators weren't really a problem. They really wanted to get the chickens out in the pasture though, and since the llama was available, they decided to give it a try. So far, it appears to be working. What is attracting the fox to your place??

We are leaving tomorrow and I am still not sure where we shall go first. I have been checking weather forecast online and on TV a few times in an hour. It is going to be mixed, so the choice is really difficult.
See you in 2 weeks or so, depends on the weather.

Well, then, I can hardly blame the fox!! Seriously, where are you keeping the chickens? We have a coop and a fenced in area but we like to let them free range. Now we keep them confined in the fenced area. My daughter and son-in-law wanted their meat chickens to free range so that's why they put them in the pasture with the llama. They keep their laying hens in movable coops in a pasture. That way they get the benefits of free-ranging, but the birds are safe and they can find the eggs easily. The movable coops look like quonset huts with bowed roofs and are covered with chicken wire. There are wheels at one end so the coops can be rolled to a new area in the pasture regularly. And...to update on the llama, last week something...they think a PACK of coyotes...got into the pasture and were too overwhelming for the llama, so unfortunately they lost 53 of their chickens. So much for that experiment!

Llamas are normally a match for coyotes. Too bad about the chickens.

Llamas are normally a match for coyotes. Too bad about the chickens. They think it was a large pack, so the llama may have been overwhelmed! I'm sure she was doing the best she could!

We came back yesterday - it took almost 3 weeks. The weather was perfect in the real sense of the word, both at the seaside and Warsaw. Sometimes too perfect for me. I don`t like when it gets too hot. It turns out one doesn`t need to go to Southern Europe or Northern Africa for weather, Poland is OK.
I have taken about 3000 fantastic photos, one day you will see most of them.
I have been very busy taking care of 3 boys. But it is not the end of my strain because I have to finish the renovation of my room at last.

Did you get any rest?Rest is a problematic matter when you have to take care of 3 kids all on your own. But I think I will remember this trip as a very fruitful one. Was it fun? Yes, it certainly was. We have seen fantastic places. Tell us where you went, and what you did. Mike
Not yet. I will tell you about my vacations when summer is over.

Welcome to a woman's world... Well, luckily I am an experienced mother. We have been going away together for 4 years now. I admire a man who is in touch with his feminine side...all men have one, some are just afraid to admit it or show it. Showing his feminine side makes a man more well-balanced and healthy! (I hope I haven't scandalized all these male members of this forum with my radical view!)
