And I enjoyed the beautiful photographs of Bonobo very much too. They tell the story of the pilgrims, priests, public transport, First aid groups, the pope and the city today very well. I enjoyed the video/vlog by the Dutch priest very much too. He is both traditional (Roman-Catholic) and in the same time modern in his approach.

In my personal opinion Poland, Poles and Polish priests have a special role in this secular Europe to play. As a christian and Catholic country. I hope that Polish priests where there are empty churches and parishes in other countries could learn the languages of those countries and become priests there, for Poles and non-Poles there.
I believe that Polish Roman-Catholicism is special, because it merged Polish people, their spirituality and the church together. The faith is stronger there than in other countries. I felt a strong faith and spirituality when I was in Poland in 1984, 1987, 2004 and 2006.
In the Netherlands, the USA, and probably in the Czech Republic and Slovakia the national churches struggle with secularism, empty and closed churches. Poland is still a strong Roman-Catholic country and yet open to other traditions and cultures. Poland manages to keep it's own identity, because Roman-Catholicism has merged with the Polish culture, tradition, history, people, present and future. These World Youth Days prove that. The foreign Roman-Catholics won't forget Krakow and Poland.
Cheers, Pieter
P.S.- I have experienced Roman-Catholicism in the Netherlands, Belgium (both Flanders and Wallonia), France, Germany, Luxemburg, Austria, Italy and South-Africa (where I went to church in Cape Town), but never the faith, spiritualism and presence of Roman-Catholicism (faith, people, culture, churches, cathedrals, monastries and abbey's) was stronger than in Poland. Especially under communism in the Polish Peoples Republic I felt a strong, incredibly strong power of the Roman-Catholic faith. It was stronger than the empty, but powerful communism of the atheist Poles and their Russian bosses and fellow communists of other Warsaw Pact and Comecon countries. The Polish Roman-Catholic faith I witnessed with Easter in a Dominican monk church in Poznan was unique, deep, special and connected to Jesus and the Polish pope.

But this time I cannot agree with you. We can`t afford losing our priests, already a lot of them have been going on missions to Africa and elsewhere or Eastern countries like Belarus or Ukraine. Don`t take offence but Polish priests wouldn`t help atheist Europe too much. They would be derided and rejected. It is too late, the process of secularisation has gone too far. Sorry.

Pope Francis visits sick children in Poland 29.07.2016 17:14 Pope Francis on Friday blessed young patients at a children’s hospital during the third day of his pilgrimage to Poland for World Youth Day. “Sadly, our society is tainted by the culture of waste, which is the opposite of the culture of acceptance,” the head of the Roman Catholic Church said in an address at the University Children’s Hospital in the southern city of Kraków. “And the victims of the culture of waste are those who are weakest and most frail; and this is indeed cruel. “How beautiful it is instead to see that in this hospital the smallest and most needy are welcomed and cared for,” the pope added. Earlier in the day, the spiritual leader of the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics travelled to the former Nazi-German death camp of Auschwitz, some 70 km from Kraków, to pay silent tribute to its victims. Later on Friday, the pope was to take part in a Way of the Cross ceremony attended by young people at Kraków’s Błonie common. Organizers predict that up to 1.5 million people from over 180 countries are likely to attend the main events of World Youth Day - a night vigil with the pope on Saturday and an open-air mass celebrated by the pontiff on the last day, Sunday. Launched by Pope John Paul II in the 1980s, World Youth Day has been held every two or three years in different countries. (pk) Many more: link

Pilgrim meals can be obtained for vouchers. Vegan and not www.krakow2016.com/en/meals-in-the-food-and-beverage-zones-will-satisfy-pilgrims-tastes Food and Beverage Zones will be open to pilgrims from Tuesday to Friday (26-29 July) in Krakow, as well as on Saturday and Sunday (30-31 July) on Campus Misericordiae.
17 Complex Food and Beverage Zones
Pilgrims will be able to enjoy meals by exchanging meal tickets in restaurants and in special zones. There will be 17 zones in Krakow and Campus Misericordiae during WYD offering food, drinks, and other services, including Wi-Fi and Poczta Polska (Polish Post) booths. The zones in Krakow will be open Tuesday to Friday from noon until midnight, whereas the zones on Campus Misericordiae will function on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am until the last person is served. Seven Food and Beverage Zones will be prepared by Caritas and the rest will be organized by other entities that have signed agreements with the WYD Local Organizing Committee. To ensure the effectiveness of distribution, each zone that takes up an area of 800-1000 square meters will be made up of separate food tents.
Everyone Will Find Something for Him or Herself
The menu was created in such a way to satisfy the preferences of all pilgrims. Food representative of different parts of the world will be offered, with an accent on Polish cuisine. Pilgrims will find dishes from different regions of Poland, such as bigos (hunter’s stew), pierogi (dumplings), żurek (sour rye soup), oscypki, and thick slices of bread with schmaltz. Fast dishes whose preparation does not take much time and can be served as a snack or as a hot lunch (hot dogs, fries, zapiekanki, grilled sausages, etc.) will also be available. Among dishes there will also be so-called ready meals distributed in special packages to choose from, both with and without meat, such as pastas, salads, and Mexican dishes. They can be eaten on site or packed into a backpack and consumed at a later time. There will also be no lack of pizza – a dish known and loved by all. There will also be designated café areas that will distribute warm beverages such as coffee and tea, as well as sweet snacks. Additionally, cold drinks will be made available to pilgrims: water, juices, soft drinks, and energy drinks – served at room temperature or chilled.
Caritas Food and Beverage Zones
Caritas is preparing a total of seven Food and Beverage Zones in Krakow, at ul. Smocza, ul. Bernardyńska, ul. Piastowska, on Bulwar Wołyński, Bulwar Poleski, and Bulwar Inflancki, as well as in Łagiewniki and one on Campus Misericordiae. For example, the zone on Bulwar Poleski will offer: both warm and cold ready-made meals, grilled foods, vegetarian dishes, fast food, regional cuisine, and desserts. In turn, on Bulwar Wołyński there will be pizza, kebab, tortillas, hot dogs, chicken, baked potatoes, and coffee and cold beverages. As Katarzyna Rybicka, consultant for issues concerning meals during WYD for Caritas Krakow, says the food and beverage zones will all be different, giving pilgrims the opportunity to choose what they want to eat. Not only registered pilgrims will be able to take advantage of the food and beverage zones, but everyone else can, too. Food and beverages can be purchased in cash and, in some places, with a card. The prices will be slightly higher than the value of meal tickets which stems from the need to bring in cash registers with service, protection, and escort, etc.
The App will Inform You About the Zones
A special app has been created with those coming to WYD in mind that will allow pilgrims to search for locations of food and beverage zones and to determine the distance to specific zones. The app will also include menus with pictures and descriptions of dishes. Besides this, it will also inform where the shortest lines are and if a given location accepts card payments. The app has been available since 18 July.
