Pieter, you are a noble person as usual when you are suggesting it. But this time I cannot agree with you. We can`t afford losing our priests, already a lot of them have been going on missions to Africa and elsewhere or Eastern countries like Belarus or Ukraine. Don`t take offence but Polish priests wouldn`t help atheist Europe too much. They would be derided and rejected. It is too late, the process of secularisation has gone too far. Sorry. Dear Bonobo, Maybe not priest because I can understand that there is a limit to the amount of celibaterian solo living men in Poland who are priests. But maybe some Roman-Catholic mission could take place. There are Polish Roman-Catholic communities in area's were a lot of Polish Diaspora communities (Polonia) live. Mass for Polish expats in the Netherlands in Dutch Roman-Catholic churchCheers, Pieter

And so now it is over...they all begin to head home...and the dust begins to settle... Thank you so much Bonobo and Pjotr for your postings on this thread. Because of you two I saw soooo many more images than I would have just watching U.S. media coverage. I hereby award to Bonobo and Pjotr the "POLISH FORUM - CULTURE, HISTORY, TRADITIONS, PEOPLE OF POLAND" first of its kind "JOURNALISM AWARD" for excellent coverage of World Youth Day 2016 by sharing these images with those of us who did not attend! Way to go, guys! Yay!

Way to go, guys! Yay! Thanks for the award. It is an honour to us. The dust has settled so it is time to reflect. The Pope came to Poland so our primary interest is how Poles were affected by the visit. As usual, Poles know better what they should do, believe in, think. They picked from Pope`s speeches what they liked and refused to accept what they didn`t. The Pope`s appeals to take care of refugees have rolled off Poles like water off the duck`s back. There has been no change in people`s opinions about immogrants and the government`s stance is clear - Poland won`t take any Muslim refugees as long as PiS is in power. www.politico.eu/article/polands-problem-with-this-pope-francis-krakow-catholic-church/www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/27/pope-calls-for-solidarity-with-refugees-during-speech-in-krakow

As far as the Poles are concerned, there will never be another Pope like JPII (and they may be right!) I can't help but wonder, though, what the Poles would think if it were JPII telling them to welcome refugees....

I can't help but wonder, though, what the Poles would think if it were JPII telling them to welcome refugees.... Then it might be different. Currently, the Pope is boycotted even by a large part of Church here which closely cooperates with PiS government. That is why I often read in comments to articles about the catholic sect which rules Poland.
