In another thread we post riddles using our own photos. polandsite.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=riddlesLet`s start this thread based on Net pics and showing culture, customs and traditions in Poland. Tufta, I am sorry, most of them are not for Polish guys like you to guess, because they are too easy. But you can offer your riddles, of course. What is going on?

Tufta, I am sorry, most of them are not for Polish guys like you to guess, because they are too easy. I feel very deeply hurt and unfairly treated. I don't now what my reaction may be to the trauma.

Is it Mara? My grandfather used to use it as a cuss word. I think she was the god of winter. "Its colder than Maras' tits outside" or something like that.

All those windbreaks placed together are forming a pattern. Are they part of a much larger thing? I can also see towels that look like flags?

Ahh, you concentrate on particular items instead of generating a general idea about the custom of using windbreaks in Poland. What is their purpose, really?

As usual I look into things too deeply. What custom does this food represent? Well it appears to be a barbecued sausage.......but no idea about custom. I have no idea about the snow pic either.

What about that stick? it plays a role here. Not unless it's barbecuing, but I wouldn't call that a custom. Still have no idea about the snow pic.

Not unless it's barbecuing, but I wouldn't call that a custom. Still have no idea about the snow pic. It is an old custom from the times when portable garden grills were rare or even not invented yet - roasting sausages over campfire. As for snow pics, it is kolęda - Christmas time visits by the local parish priest accompanied by altar boys. hahaha

Parking on the pavements? Pretty bad if that's the case, imagine some poor disabled person trying to get past those cars!

Yes, exactly, I meant our old discussions about fences. New members didn`t participate in them so they didnt` know what I meant.

Why fish in bath? Two answers required - simple and deep. 1 - It is being kept fresh for the (Christmas) meal. 2 - The water symbolizes Baptism.

This first sentence is enough to give two answers - for Christmas and fresh.
