Hello Everybody!
Sunday night 1-10-10 my furnace finally broken down and I was up all night trying to keep warm. My condo was so cold and Monday morning I call Furnace repairman to come. Good things my furnace kept going past 3 weeks with freezing, bitter cold weather.
Now my condo is nice warm and cozy. I am not okay, I think I am getting cold and my body aching. I am going to rest now and maybe tomorrow I finished up my Christmas decorations. Yep, I am still working it.
So how's weather by you. It is getting warm in Illinois. Take care. I do miss everybody.

You are too far away, I prefer someone near me, well not tooooo close. Like I am saying it could be someone living in Chicago and NW Suburban near Northwest Hwy. Area. Thank you for your reply.

Winter to return to Poland - again! 11.03.2010 09:06
Just when Poles were looking forward to spring, weather forecasters say that wintry weather will return with a vengeance on Friday.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management says snow will even fall in southern Poland, Thursday.
Temperatures will then plunge to minus 7 at night, with heavy snow falling throughout most of the country. During the day temperatures will hover around zero centigrade.

I just heard, that we can have snow here, either Friday or Saturday, and some of it will stay. I will be away, to a warm weather area, for a few days, but when I get home, I want to read how bad it was, where you live.

We had four days of torrential rain on March 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th. Many rivers and streams have flooded and many, many homes have water in the basement (mine included!). There are a lot of streets that are impassable and one must take detours to get anywhere around my area. It took me 30 minutes to drive to work this morning for what us usually a 10 minute drive. The back roads where I drove to avoid flooded streets were part of detours and the traffic was all backed up on roads which are usually empty at that time! Though the weather has been lovely and sunny for the past 3 days, water is still seeping into my basement!

I just got back from South Carolina, where the weather was great, just a small bit of rain, but warm and nice. Had a great time, and had a few meetings, and got a few job offers, so now to sell my home, and move. This can time some time, but the jobs will be there when I get there.

Winter-like weather strikes Poland 22.04.2010 10:32
Winter is still holding its grip on Poland even though spring officially started a month ago with snow being recorded in some areas. Snowy weather has surprised citizens of the Baltic coast, the eastern region of Podlasie and the Bieszczady mountain range in the south-east of Poland. At night in many Polish cities temperature dropped to below zero.
Weather forecasts for today are not optimistic, with temperatures not exceed 6 degrees Celsius and at night it will fall to minus 3 degrees.
Snow will fall in the mountains and sleet and strong wind are expected in the north of Poland.

Summer’s over as snow falls in Tatra mountains 31.08.2010 12:16
Around 50 centimetres of snow has fallen on Kasprowy Wierch in the southern Polish Tatra mountains, marking the end of the summer season.
Kasprowy Wierch, which lies some 1987 metres above sea level, saw freezing temperatures with snowfall reportedly reaching “knee height”.
Despite the freak snowfall, tourists are not complaining. “It’s hard to believe, but it is […] absolutely beautiful,” one hiker told the TVN24 news channel.
600 metres lower on Turbacz, a 1310 metre peak in the Gorce National Park, the recorded temperature currently stands at 5 degrees Celsius with rainfall.
The weather comes as most of southern Poland is covered by thick cloud and continuing rainfall, causing some local authorities to issue flood alerts in the Silesian region, including highland towns such as Bielsko-Biala and Zywiec.

Summer’s just ended but snow is already on Tatra mountains 30.09.2010 15:46 Ten centimetres of snow are being reported on the peak of Kasprowy Wierch in the Tatra mountains, where the temperature has dropped to minus 5 degrees Celsius.
Snow is already falling at 1500 metres above sea level.
Mountain services are warning that because of snow coupled with high wind, conditions on trekking routes are very difficult and advise tourists not to venture out.
It is cold and wet in winter capital Zakopane, with rain and temperature around plus two degrees. The weather will improve next week say forecasters.

Thanks to my brand new snow tyres, I drive through all snowdrifts which cause other cars stuck or go 10 miles per hour. But fuel consumption is rising tragically - 15 litres.
Poland in deep freeze 01.12.2010 08:46 Temperatures plunged to under minus 20 degrees centigrade last night in some areas as arctic weather settles over Poland.
During Wednesday, the thermometer will remain well under freezing point, with daytime temperatures in the Suwalki region in the north east recording minus 14.
The coldest place in Poland last night was in Bialystok (a record - 26.5 C.) with the mercury level at - 17 in Warsaw.
The warmest area today will be around Gdansk on the Baltic coast at minus four degrees. More snow and blizzards are expected in many regions, with winds over 60 km / h.
The deep freeze is expected to continue on Thursday.

In the northeast U.S. we have had a run of storms every mid-week and and sometimes more for the last month. These storms are all ones dumping at least 6 inches of snow and usually more. The walls of snow lining my driveway are now so high I can barely toss the snow up to the top. We have had 4 snow days off from school. Tonight I learned that school will again be canceled (5th day) tomorrow because one of the elementary schools in the town where I work had a partial roof collapse today. Now per order of safety officials, crews must clear all school roofs in town of snow tomorrow, so students cannot attend while that is being done.
I do plan on enjoying my day off tomorrow, though. Usually I spend the snow days shoveling, but beautiful weather is predicted for tomorrow. Of course, the day after we are going to have another storm, but I'll enjoy the lull while we have it!

Yes, we regularly see it here. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1691616,0,1,zasypane-drogi--odwolane-loty-amerykanska-zima,wiadomosc.html I envy you. I like such winter more than the one we have now - barely any snow in the city, and a thin layer of it in the countryside. Only mountains are really snowy. I hope your roof is strong enough. I know American houses are very delicate.

We had around two feet of snow on Tuesday and wednesday, but roads here are clear, most of the snow is still on the ground, and it is getting very cold, below zero. I just hope this will be my last winter here, and want to sell my home and move to S.C. for warmer weather, soon we hope, but the home sale market is down now, so we will just have to wait.

Normally, I like a "real" winter also, it always makes Spring so much sweeter...but this is a bit too much!! I think we're okay. Our house was well-built in the 1960's by a reputable builder who did not skimp on good materials. It is a "Cape Cod" style house with a rather steep-pitched roof.

Normally, I like a "real" winter also, it always makes Spring so much sweeter...but this is a bit too much!! Only by overcoming difficulties you can feel human and appreciate life! Very practical, indeed. The next big boom in Cape style houses came in the 1950s and early 1960s during a building boom that resulted in street after Cape lined street in new neighborhoods. This was the last period when solid, quality building materials were a matter of course even in starter homes – plaster walls, hardwood floors, and fully tiled baths. The cape at right was built in Arlington in 1957.
