(Subject title in honor of Mike. ) We are in the throws of a mini blizzard tonight. YUK! Way too early. I hear the farmers Almanac says we are in for a worse winter than normal. They're all too long and cold for me.

The other day we had hail, but not for long, and now the temp is around 40-50, normal for this time of the year.

It was a mess yesterday. We got over 8" and it was real heavy wet snow. Took down a lot of trees and power lines. I still have no internet at home. Our business was shut down yesterday too due to no inet and then the power went out. Schools were closed and lots of accidents. It took my daughter over 2 hours to go 5 miles. she was stuck on a hill waiting for a jack knifed truck to be pulled out and behind her a tree fell across the road, so all she could do was wait. I took pictures from my porch in the morning and will post them when I get the inet back up at home.

Today is to be 62 high here, and it looks like it will reach it, and warm again for the next few days, than who knows, this is the Midwest, where you never know, until you look out your window.

Most of our leaves have fallen and the color is gone, yucky brown now. I don't like the cold at all, but the frost on the trees is the prettiest by far. I love it when it sparkles! I swear one of these days I will stop on the hill by the dam and get a quick picture of the frost before a truck runs me over...hahaha...

Still nice weather here, again, around 72 for a high, and they say nice weather until could be Saturday.
How is the weather where you are. I read someplace that it was around 50 now in Poland, does anyone know if this is true?
What is the weather like in Poland now?

Winter hits hard in Polish Tatra mountains Polish Radio 21.12.2008
Winter has finally hit the Tatra mountains in the south of Poland. Over 50 centimeters (20 inches) of snow has fallen there in the past day, with Kasprowy Wierch being covered by 70 cm (28 inches) of the white stuff.
Temperatures have also plunged, and at noon today, Sunday, thermometers were showing a hefty -8 degrees. Although this may be good news for skiers in the long run, for now conditions have become very dangerous, with avalanches possible.
The possibility of an avalanche has also gone up with the danger level reading 3 out of 5. The Tatra Mountain Resue Team not recommending anyone to go above the forest areas. Visibility is also down to only 50 metres.
Because of the worsening conditions in the mountains, a hiker from the southern city of Krakow got lost and called for help on Saturday evening. He was eventually found at 6am Sunday morning by a Slovakian mountain rescue team and is recovering under medical supervision.

We are having an 'old fashioned' winter here in the Northeast U.S. It seems every three days or so, we have another storm. (and it's been very cold!) The last storm was last Wednesday which provided us with a very welcomed and unexpected day off from school. And today we are having yet another storm...but by tomorrow everyone will probably be dug out enough for there to be school!
