We are planning to leave tomorrow for the seaside, for a week at least. Today is going to be busy day again. I hate packing and preparing... I have yet to meet anyone who enjoys that part! Wow! What happens if you are stopped? Do you have to pay an immediate fine? Enjoy your vacation, and drive safe...and slow??!

Wow! What happens if you are stopped? Do you have to pay an immediate fine? I was talking about stationary radar posts. antyradary.phi.pl/mapa_fotoradarow/fotoradary/gniazdow.htmSome of them are fake - an empty tin box. antyradary.phi.pl/mapa_fotoradarow/fotoradary/osieki_leborskie.htmThe police can stop you with their radar guns/hairdryers but you don`t pay on the spot of the crime.... Slow driving, fully respecting law, means 20 hours to the seaside from Krakow. Nobody drives like that in Poland. Normal driving, breaking a rule from time to time - 12 hours. Most Poles drive like that. Fast driving, breaking all the rules in an extremely hazardous way, - 8 hours. Some people drive like that. I am going to get to the seaside in about 10 hours, but it is going to be early morning with little traffic.

When my daughter visited Poland she brought back photos of something she had seen along Polish roads. I don't know what to call them, but they were cut in the shape of Police cars and painted like police cars and were positioned along the road like it was watching for speeders. It was obvious that no one would think this was really a Police car and slow down, so my daughter thought it was very funny...until her boyfriend said that often times these 'facsimiles' actually had real Police cars parked behind them which would pull out and catch speeders by surprise! Do you know about these and are they located all around Poland or just in the area she saw?

Do you know about these and are they located all around Poland or just in the area she saw? I have seen only two such fake police cars throughout all these years, both along the same route from Warsaw to Katowice. The idea is indeed strange, and if they are ment to slow down the speeders, it must work only once. Well, may be twice in case the driver has memory malfunction

My vacations plans, first off, we flew to Florida in May for our son's wedding, and in June I flew back to help him move to South Carolina, and now next week we have family in to stay with us, from Poland, for three weeks, we will not do anything more until fall or winter.

Well, may be twice in case the driver has memory malfunction So, it sounds like they are not common throughout Poland if you have only seen two! My daughter was in the Bialystok region and drove up to the coast, so she saw it somewhere in that area.

Phewww! We came back 2 hours ago, the journey back to Krakow is always more tiring than in the opposite direction, I don`t know why...
The holiday at the seaside was great. The weather was perfect, hot during the day and cool, even chilly in the evening and at night, that is what I like best. We didn`t go sightseeing so often as last year because the beach and the lake occupied most of our time. But coming back we visited a few places. Again a lot of photos taken, I don`t know when I will process them...
We came back right in time. The weather is rainy again....
Today is the 10th anniversary of our marriage. We are having an exciting meeting in my room when the kids are asleep. We must make up for 10 days of no seeing...
See you tomorrow.
PS. Having had a quick look at the Polish forum I can see you were having good time while I was away. That`s nice. Gigi and Jeanne, was Tufta indecent again? I can see Gleite is a new, busy member. Is his demeanour OK? Because this Forum is meant to be decent one.... Just follow my example.

The idea of fake cars started around late 80s and lasted for about 10 years. The dummy cars didn`t deter too many drivers and they got vandalised. The cost of maintanance was too high. Photo radars are much more efficient. Unfortunately, all radar posts on the main roads in Poland are real. The fake ones are in villages in country roads. My vacations plans, first off, we flew to Florida in May for our son's wedding, and in June I flew back to help him move to South Carolina, and now next week we have family in to stay with us, from Poland, for three weeks, we will not do anything more until fall or winter. Will you go on vacation in winter? To Florida, huh? A husband tells his wife how he splashed a guy from Florida on the road. The wife asks: How do you know he was from Florida? The hubby: Because he was yelling sth about the sun and the beach.

It seems more tiring because on the way TO your destination you have all that anticipatory eagerness to enjoy your time away. On the way BACK you know it is over and it's back to life as usual... In any case...welcome back to life as usual...we missed you! Yes, hot days are fine if you get to cool off in the evening! It's funny, but often the weather where I am parallels the weather you have in Poland...We have had a very rainy summer...many days with thundershowers and downpours! Congratulations on your 10th anniversary! Hope you enjoyed the celebration...and I wish you and your patient wife many more blissful years together! I think everyone onboard behaved while you were away...unless I missed something! ;D

In any case...welcome back to life as usual...we missed you! You are perfectly right. I thought so but couldn`t find proper words to express my feelings. That is why I am still reluctant to go to Greece or other southern country though my family are pressing on me. I am afraid I won`t tolerate the climate - too hot and humid 24/24. We did enjoy it. It was amazing experience... Why patient and why my wife only? What about my patience??? Excellent. I hope you will also behave during my next absence which is going to start on next Saturday. This time it is 2 weeks in the mountains. You will have to be patient, just like my wife. But I promise to post many photos before leaving, for all of you to relish on while I am away. Did you make it successfully through all the radar traps? I don`t know yet. They have 30 days to track me down and deliver the notification of having been caught by the radar and a summon to pay a fine. I am rather sure I avoided being caught, the only exception is one radar in the city of Łódź, I was driving 80 kph and am not sure if it was an urban area where the limit is 50 kph.

I agree with you...non-stop heat is something I do not tolerate well. Your wife must have great patience to have lasted 10 years.... ;D ;D ;D But of course, that also applies to you and to anyone who has been married longer than 1 year! ;D ;D ;D Finally, my last day of my summer tutoring is tomorrow, so very shortly I too will head to the mountains! I will be heading to the state of Vermont to visit my daughter on the farm. Unfortunately, I won't be gone for 2 weeks, but just about 1 week. Yes, those delayed notifications are not fun. Once my daughter's Polish boyfriend was driving my car while they were going to pick someone up at the airport in Boston and he made an illegal move by going in some traffic lane he wasn't supposed to be in...a couple of weeks later, I got a photo in the mail showing my car caught in the act and I got the bill for the fine!

No need to apologise. I perfectly understood your anxiety and provided you more info on rents in Prices thread. Look there and study it because renting is expensive in big cities in Poland.

For that one they split the cost and reimbursed me... ;D

Everything is going great, but we have so much to do, and see, I hope we get all done. People of Poland love the U.S.A. and we are trying to have them move here next year. Life styles are other than ours, but I don't know which is better.

Pheew, I have set a record in posting photos today. I have completed the existing posts about Warsaw, there are still a few more to present, but you must wait 2 weeks. As I said, we are leaving for the mountains on Saturday. Most of you are going to go somewhere too, so I think it will be all peace and quiet on the Polish forum front. Life styles are other than ours, but I don't know which is better. Hmmm? What is different? Canyou develop it in Life is A Fatal Disease Thread?

Phoenix is a very much fun place, only if you know where to go. Great eats, good drinks, and hot women, and much sex if you want.

Jeanne - how was your vacation in Vermont? I'd love to hear about it! My 'vacation' in Vermont was really a visit with my daughter and her husband on the farm, but it was a wonderful time! The day I arrived, we attended a party for my son-in-law's grandmother on her 90th birthday. We indulged in hand-cranked ice cream and the traditional family home-made oatmeal cake...delicious! As the week progressed, we... went blackberry picking on grandma's farm after picnicking in the beautiful gardens around her house... we canoed around a large pond and observed close-up an amazingly huge beaver dam... we hiked high enough up a hill to be able to see across Lake Champlain to the beautiful Adirondacks... we went swimming in Lake Champlain (where all the small stones were a beautiful mix of black and white...stunning) we tended the chickens, collected the eggs, and indulged in a lot of great, fresh, local food compliments of my daughter. It was hard to come home...can't wait to go back!
