I being old, and working for my self, I can take vacation when ever I want. I have taken a few this year, and will be going to my son's home in South Carolina later this year, when the time moves me, could be next month, or the one after.

Mary,
In one way or another, we are all teachers, but I mean, school teachers. God Bless you and yours, and take great care of them.

Me, too, though I am a tutor, not a classroom teacher. I work in an elementary school, grades 2 through 5. I teach all subjects, but mostly Reading and Math. I also teach at my church in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) which is the process by which adults who wish to become Catholics are prepared.

This is great that you have time for all this, most people now, just don't care to help.

Me, too, though I am a tutor, not a classroom teacher. I work in an elementary school, grades 2 through 5. What is the difference between a tutor and classroom teacher? I'm actually a Special Education Tutor (should have mentioned that). Our Special Education students are included in regular classrooms, but they often need support to access the curriculum. My job is to go into classes during reading time, writing time, or math time according to the needs of the child (spelled out in their Individualized Education Program, or IEP) and work with those particular students. I reinforce what the teacher is presenting in a way that these kids can understand. So...I get to do all the fun things a teacher does (work with the kids, see them progress, etc.) and I don't have to do any of the stressful things they need to do like plan, generate grades, or discipline! I love my job! In the summer, however, I work with the same population of students who have "summer tutoring" written in their IEP's, and then I need to decide what I will do with each child according to their needs, plan the lessons and work usually one-on-one with those students. But I do get paid more per hour in the summer and it's only for 6 weeks so I don't mind the extra work.

Jeannie, Sounds like you probably work with autistic kids....bless your heart. The world needs more people like you! Grammyk Mary, While we do have quite a few autistic kids in our school, I don't really work with them...the kids I work with are mostly moderate special needs. But we do have a wonderful young, enthusiastic Spec. Ed. teacher who works with the autistic kids, so they get great care! The young woman is phenomenal and thrives on her work! The kids are very fortunate to have her.

So, guys, what are your plans for the next year? Mine are so standard that dull: the seaside, lake, mountains, hopefully in different places. Currently I am processing the photos from the seaside this year... I have roughly selected 1200 pics and regret every one I will have to drop during next selection. So, there will be around 1000. Do you think you can take it in?

So, guys, what are your plans for the next year? We are taking a family trip to Florida again next winter, although this time it will just be the beach, not Disney (though we did have a blast there last year). I would like to go to New York and also go back to Europe, but those would be adults-only trips, not family trips. And I would need to find the time and the money to go. But one can dream... Not dull...relaxing! Bring them on!!! ;D ;D ;D

I had so many plans for winter holidays. Reunions, guests, cinema, aquapark, museums, walks, going out.
It seems out of question now as I have the flu. My muscles hurt, every cough reverberates in my head like Big Ben, fever and immense feebleness is what I am overwhelmed with. I am as weak as a child. I can only type.

I think you are supposed to knock on something wooden now...

Sorry to hear the virus got you, Bo. So am I. Very sorry. Yesterday I had to take a painkiller (I hadn`t for many years) because the joints in my shoulders prevented me from sleeping. Whatever position I tried to adopt, I felt this pain. Today I took the second painkiller because I feel like my brain is going to explode at the slightest movement.

Does your winter holiday just last for this one week, and is it back to school on Monday? Winter holiday is always two weeks in Poland. I feel a little better. Muscle and joint pains have passed. But I have taken painkillers again today to get rid of this horrible headache (I felt my brain floating violently inside when I coughed or moved abrubtly). And I sweat like a horse though I am only sitting and typing. Disgusting, isn`t it? Tomorrow we are to go to certain kid`s birthday party. I don`t know what to do.
