Walruses meet in PolandCopy the whole address and paste into the address slot www.tvn24.pl/-1,1539149,wiadomosc.html The 5th International Jamboree of Walruses is taking place in Poland. 1000 participants gathered. People are swimming in freezing water. I wonder if they are really so resistant to cold thanks to their strong wills or they just aren`t affected by it physically like other people (what matters here is the type of built, genetic predisposition etc). MANIACS!!! More pics of walruses here www.postomino.pl/index.php?section=105www.poznan.morsy.pl/galeria.htm

5 tons of plaster casts have been used by doctors to treat over 2000 patients, only in Zakopane area, since 15 January, the day when winter holidays started in Poland. Nice beginning Nasty ending Livio, I think you suffered the same fate. It happened to your ankle... Or do I get it wrong and it was your uncle?

Never mind. Hey, it looks like some Robocop stuff to me! Just checking, but can you look into the mirror and see if they also added this to your head?

I had a problem with classifying this item. Is it a good joke or crime news?
Yesterday Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived in the USA. He was welcomed by a bunch of police cars and a group of morose men in black. The passengers had to wait at the airport for 3 hours until the plane and their luggage was looked through by American anit-terrorist units. Why?
Tusk, instead of using Polish Air Force One, flew on a regular airline plane to save some money. Polish voters like it when politicians are frugal with their public spending. He managed to save about 500.000 zlotys, i.e., about 200.000$.
Unfortunately, a witty hoaxer had informed the NY airline offices about the bomb. The plane was frisked.
No bomb was found.

On Monday President Kaczyński addressed the nation, talking about the European Treaty. He warned Poles that the treaty might open the way to the gay marriages in Poland. The address was enriched with photos: one of them depicted a gay couple getting married. Today one of the men, residing in Toronto, Canada, lodged an official complaint in the Polish consulate. He accused the President of spreading intolerance by means of the photo. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1542848,wiadomosc.html

There will be an official investigation after media revealed that Polish soldiers from counterintelligence units in Afghanistan put their photos on Find Your Classmate site. They were supposed not to do such things, they had signed contracts binding them to secrecy. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1543976,wiadomosc.html

A policeman was driving with his family out of town when his car was hit by a drunk driver who didn`t stop but drove away. The chase started. The drunk driver almost drove on pavements, sweeping passers-by aside. When his car finally stuck in mud, the drunk driver tried to run away on foot. The policeman, a marathon winner, followed and easily caught the road pirate.
All his offences might cost him about 10 years in prison.

The quiz show "Millionaire" A 21 year old student was close to win 1 million zlotys (about 400 thousand $). The question was easy: Who was the master yielder of the weapon which mythological Artemis used? a. Zorro b. Legolas c. Don Quixote d. Longin Podbibięta ( a character from a Polish historical book). She gave up and received only 500 thousand zlotys. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1544875,wiadomosc.html The show was definitely rigged. She got very easy questions, I knew the answers to all of them.

Poles certainly like celebrating April`s Fool Day. It is a long tradition that media join the fun. Sometimes the effects are astounding.
On 1 April the popular state TV1 channel announced that all pensioners would be given the most modern TV monitors, each worth 1500$. One of requirements was low pension.
It seems that many old people believed in it. They started calling and enquiring the station. My work mates also reported how their parents were taken in.
When on the next day TV revealed it was a joke, pensioners got angry. They accused TV of laughing at their pitiful financial situation.
Also radio stations and newspapers play such tricks on people. Sometimes the stories are very credible. There are also competitions organised for readers or listeners to track down the joke.
Does it happen in the USA or UK?

www.tvn24.pl/-1,1546488,wiadomosc.html On of the schools decided to expel a 18 year old girl student who is pregnant. In protest she chained herself to the radiator in the school corridor. Headmistress explains the student missed school a lot and that was the direct reason of expulsion. After a mediation of a police psychologist, the girl took off the chain. The school promised to give her one more chance.

1 May is Labour Day. 3 May is Constitution Day. 2 May felt silly between two popular days. It requested to be made popular too. So they made it such. 2 May is the holiday devoted to the Polish national flag. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1548288,wiadomosc.html May 2 = Polonia Day --> users.rcn.com/salski/No27Folder/Polonia_Day.htm

Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, has revealed in an interview for Newsweek Poland that he used to smoke marijuana and drink cheap wines in stormy 1980s. A hot national debate, with a flair of scandal, started, similar to the one after Clinton admited to smoking pot. 1970s Tusk is next to the dog, 1980s 1989 1990s Tuski is a soccer player and fan too. A doctor from a provincial hospital has problems. he used leeches on a crushed foot of one of his patients after the standard treatment hadn`t helped and the foot began to rot. Why problems? Firstly, leeches are not officially registered as medicament in Poland. In result, leech treatment is not refunded by National Health Service. The patient had to pay 2000$ for it but he says he doesn`t regret because the foot was saved. By the doctor and his leeches. But he was reported by the director of the hospital. Now the doctor is going to face the Medical Ethics Board who will decide his fate. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1549859,wiadomosc.html

I think they are also used on infected wounds because they eat the bacteria. That's probably why they saved the gangrenous foot.

Exactly. But leeches are not considered medicine by Polish medical beaurocracy and hence the whole problem. It doesn`t matter that the foot was saved, what pisssed off the head of the hospital was the sum that the patient had to pay for leech treatment. Yes, it was expensive and the National Health Service isn`t going to refund it. But did he prefer the foot to rot so that the patient could save his 2000$ I hope the doctor who used leeches will be acquitted.

I think the best Polish sport is love making, and they do it well, and often. And long! But only in marriage, of course. Mike, how do you know? Are you talking from your own experience? This is the latest hot news from Warsaw. At 3 am a few people, men and women, were coming back from the party. Men decided to have fun ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D and see what they did: www.tvn24.pl/-1,1551177,wiadomosc.html m.onet.pl/_m/cf2f469a3343af80cf09822af7e66415,9,1.jpg m.onet.pl/_m/b71cea6e72b1fae3d81854ea6837b66c,9,1.jpg Definitely, they followed the example of the British tourists who visit Krakow.
